IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON TOWN CENTRE BUSINESS

One Maidstone has collated a page of information for businesses affected.

PUTTING THE TOWN AT THE CENTRE OF EVERYTHING WE DO.

Voted for by local businesses in October 2018, the Business Improvement District is funded by town centre traders, to serve town centre traders.

Operated by One Maidstone, the BID helps improve the safety, cleanliness and appeal of the County Town’s busiest area for shopping, working and entertainment.

What does the BID do?

ONE MAIDSTONE SERVICES

One Maidstone organises floral planters to decorate the town centre across the summer months.

One Maidstone carries out street scene improvements, such as placing decorative hoardings on empty units.

One Maidstone offers marketing support for town centre traders, and produces a seasonal magazine.

We drive and promote tourism, by sponsoring initiatives such as the Fringe Festival and Elmer's Big Heart of Kent Parade.

One Maidstone's team of Ambassadors patrol the town centre in daytime and night shifts to improve safety.

Free training is offered to town centre business in a number of areas, held at our central offices.

One Maidstone rolled out Emergency Trauma Packs in the town centre, the first scheme of its kind in Kent.

The BID organises special events within the town centre, such as the Christmas post train that visited Jubilee Square in 2019.

In 2019, One Maidstone took over the provision of town centre Christmas lights, and switch on event.

Targeted deep cleans removing chewing gum and graffiti, as well as power washing and painting.

The BID carries out yearly Remembrance campaigns, such as the large scale artwork on the Mall.

One Maidstone operates MaidSafe, which includes the monitoring and responding to of town centre radios.

One Maidstone produces a seasonal magazine to promote the work of the BID, and feature town centre businesses. This is distributed for free in print across the town centre, and is also available to read in a digital format.
Out and about

BID Ambassadors

One Maidstone's BID Ambassador are a visible presence across the town centre, supporting Kent Police with incidents such as shoplifting and anti-social behaviour. On patrol day and night, Ambassadors are available to help businesses and members of the public.
